Hi everyone! This post will be short and and maybe not so sweet as it has been a difficult month for me. My 92 year old father’s heart and kidney are failing and we are doing hospice care at home. My once vibrant father – a medical doctor, is now very much like a little baby, in every sense of the word. I’m a bit of a daddy’s girl, being the eldest in the family so its been so hard to see him like this. He has good days and very bad days – it’s a rollercoaster ride and I’m barely holding on.
That said, I turn to cardmaking as my therapy. It gives me that moment of distraction and escape, where I can focus on creating something that brings me joy. My squirrel sisters have shown me a lot of grace and understanding and have allowed me to pass on this month’s hop. But I decided I needed to create something.

The theme is Spring with an edge, with the “edge” being a project with a decorative edge. I made a clean and simple card for this month using the Hero Arts Pop Art Flowers Stamp & die set.

Using a Misti, I lined up the flowers from the stamp set vertically on the right side of a side folding card base. Once I was happy with the alignment, I stamped out the flowers individually starting with the middle flower. I used the Intes-ified Black ink for a crisp image.
Then I used the coordinating die to cut along the edge of each flower. I taped the die and lined up the edge of the top plate of my die-cutting machine to the area I wanted to die cut. Then run it through my die-cutting machine. I did the same for the other two flowers.

After die-cutting, I used a craft knife to cut off some areas that the die-cutting machine did not cut. I stamped the word “HELLO” at the bottom left of the card.

Then I took a side folding cardbase of Hero Hues Cherry cardstock and adhered it on the opposite side of the opening to create a trifold card.

This time I didn’t get to use an item that I have squirreled away as my other Squirrel sisters did. But they have been so wonderful to give me a pass this time.
I am so happy that I got to craft even a little today– even if I haven’t been feeling like “Spring” though I am feeling a little on the “edge” thus fulfilling at least part of this month’s prompt!
Next on the hop is my beautiful friend Karen.
‘Til next time!

Oh sweet, sweet Anna… BIG hugs! You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I wish I knew something I could say or do that would help. I’m glad our little hop provided a much needed distraction in these dark days. And even in your state of mind, you made a gorgeous card with great contrast, and I love the pop of red! CAS but still impactful.
