We have a fun Altenew Educators hop this month! We take the first letter in our name and use a technique or craft supply beginning with that letter! Since my name starts with the letter A, I could go for “Anything Goes”, “Alpha Dies”, “Alcohol Inks” or “Acetate”.If you are following on this hop, you have just come from the uber talented Penny! If you would like to start at the beginning, you can head over to the Altenew blog. There you will find all the details of this hop and a way you can participate and win prizes. I also will have details on that at the end of my blog post.
My inspiration card for this hop is a monogram card using the Mega Alpha Die & Acetate – and since my last name starts with an M, I decided to use the Monstera Leaves Embossing Folder as the main design element.

I used two different colors of cardstock. I took the lightest color of green and dry-embossed it using the Monstera 3D embossing folder and then swiped the Enchanted Gold pigment ink pad all over the panel, taking care not to press hard so that only the raised areas were inked. For the darker color green cardstock, I die-cut mega letter “A” at the middle of the panel.
After die-cutting, I flipped the panel over with the “A” and placed washi tape to temporarily hold the letter in its place. Then I dry embossed it using the same embossing folder, making sure to keep the position of the card panel the same inside the embossing folder as the first.

I flipped the panel over removed the washi but kept the “A” still in its place. I then added liquid glue to the areas around and the middle of the “A” . I added a panel of clear acetate. I then flipped the card over again. But before I removed the letter, I swiped the Enchanted Gold pigment ink pad all over the panel until most of the raised parts of the image was covered in ink. Then I removed the letter, creating a window.

I painted an outline around the letters with Enchanted Gold metallic watercolor. I also used the same watercolor to paint on the edges of another cardstock panel which will serve as a matting for my mono chromatic card.
To assemble the card, I first cut down the lighter green embossed cardstock panel to a smaller size of about 3.75″X 5″ temporarily adhered it to the back of the darker green panel making sure the images lined up from the front. Then I added glue to the pack of the lighter green panel and glued it down to the panel with the watercolored gold edging. I then removed the top panel, added foam tape all around, then adhered it to the card panel.
