Hi Everyone! The newest addition to the Altenew Craft-a-FLower family is the Dendrobium Orchid. This type of orchid comes in a myriad of colors from white to bold colors like royal blue and purple. It also has no fragrance and many species of this orchid are known to remove toxins and pollutants from the air. I have one in my garden but since its monsoon season, it hasn’t bloomed yet because of the rains. But I am so happy to be able to create one in my card inspiration for this release.

This set has a lot of itty bitty bits that may seem intimidating at first, but as you start to cut and assemble them following the guide at the back of the die set, you will be amazed how it all comes together! I wanted to recreate the bold colors of these flowers so I decided to use waterbrush markers. These markers are very pigmented so I knew they would be perfect for this technique. I used most of the markers from the Spring Garden set, scribbled them on a craft mat, sprayed water and ink smooshed on watercolor cardstock. I had so much fun that I created several!
Then I used all the ink smooshed backgrounds to die cut all the elements. I left the die cuts in their little “nests” and added washi tape at the back to keep them in place.
After die cutting, I assembled all the flowers. Then I used Prismacolor pencils to add more detail. The one in the left is with the colored pencil detail and the one on the right is without.
I ink smooshed another background this time using inks from the Pocketful of Sunshine mini ink cube set, added splatters with Jet black ink spray.
I used the die to cut out the background element also from jet black cardstock. Adhered a frame on top of that then arranged and glued on the flowers. I finished it off by adding a sentiment from the Fresh Bloom stamp set.
