Coloring Everyday keeps the Blues Away!

This is my first inspiration post for the “Make Your Mark Challenge” over at the Addicted to Stamps and More blog.

Last November 2019, I joined Kathy Racoosin’s 30-day daily marker coloring challenge. If you haven’t heard of Kathy, I encourage you to check her blog THE DAILY MARKER. She is an amazing colorist and what is wonderful about her is that her “rules” for coloring aren’t really rules, per se. Its guidance on how to use coloring as a tool to express yourself. Basically the 30-day challenge encourages you to take 10-15 minutes out of your day, everyday for 30 days to color.. thats it! Just color! She will be hosting another 30-day challenge from March 1-30. You can check the details on her blog here.

The November coloring challenge could not have come at a better time. Early October, my youngest brother passed away suddenly not even a day after my best friend passed away (suddenly as well). They were in two different parts of the world so it made it so much more difficult. It was surreal and until now I struggle with the loss. The coloring challenge helped me so much as it gave me that few minutes in a day to just sit and be one with color – to somehow forget the grief and revel in beauty..

I took her first ever online class over at Online Card Classes and it was amazing! Among many other things, she teaches us not to be afraid of combining colors – BE FEARLESS! I took this to heart and wanted to share with you the results of that class as inspiration for this ATSM Make Your Mark challenge. If you would like to give this a try, I list my “unusual” copic colors below each photo.

Copic colors used: Flowers YR82,R24 & V09; Leaves BG75, G46, YG 93; Shadows C6, C4, C2 & C00

Copic Colors used for the Flowers: Y11, V04 & BG69

If it wasn’t for Kathy’s guidance, I would never have dared to choose these colors!

So, as Kathy’s #1 rule “BE FEARLESS”, I challenge you to break out your coloring mediums and color your heart away! Join us over at the ATSM blog! I’m excited to see your creations!

‘Til next time!

  1. Thanks for sharing! Such pretty cards! I lost my Dad in July and just two months later I lost my oldest brother….it was hard to set aside time for myself to color. Coloring does give you a chance to escape everyday life. It is how I de-stress and has helped me to be able to put everything else aside and just relax and do what makes me happy.
