Hello crafty friends! The squirrel sisters are back and if you are following our hop, you have just come from the beautiful Marie! For those who are new to our blog hop, we squirrel sisters get together and create projects using stuff from our stash that we have “squirreled” away! It really helps us revisit our stash and bash the stuff that are gathering dust or haven’t seen the light of day in a very long time! In the last hop we did something a little different — using our newest acquisition. This time we go back to our roots!

This month’s prompt is use a stamp, die or stencil in our stash that is at least two years old and that has never been used! I do have a lot of that! But then I decided to go back further in time and use even older stamps that I’ve never used before.
About three years ago, at the start of the pandemic, stuck at home, I decided to sort all my pattern paper scraps (yes! I keep them – this is a judgement free zone so no judging!). First, I sorted them by size and then used binder clips to keep them in order.

Then I sorted them according to color and types of patterns. After that, I spent several evenings watching Netflix and cutting them into half inch strips. Then I glued all the strips on scrap paper cut into 4.25″X5.5″ panels
Below is a photo of all the backgrounds I created with the half inch strips of pattern paper.

After making these backgrounds, I just stashed them away. I guess making them was more therapy than anything else.
Then I remembered them for this hop and decided, why not use them! So i pulled out some old stamp sets that I have never used (just collected), stamped them out and create cards! And that’s what I did.
For these first set of cards, I used a discontinued color layering Cupcake stamp by Hero Arts and paired it with the cupcake themed scrap paper strips background. I am not sure how old this stamp set is, but I purchased it from a now defunct crafting store eons ago.

And for this one, I used the Hero Arts color layering Strawberries stamp & die set. This set is probably about 3 years old.

What did I do with the other pattern paper scraps? I used a Sheetload of Cards template created by The Crafty Al and created these cards using a very old Owl wood mounted rubber stamp also by Hero Arts.

This card is quite unique in that its a tri-fold design. This owl paired with a black and beige aesthetic, makes a nice maculine card.

And this one is paired with the Altenew Hope Floral layering stamp set which is probably about 5 years old. I used the same template from The Sheetload of Cards by The Crafty Al. I will link her YT channel here. You can download all the templates from her and all you have to do is subscribe to her channel. The Sheetload of Cards templates are just perfect for mass producing!

I hope my projects inspired you to bash your stash and use your scraps! Next on the hop is the lovely and exteremely talented Lounon!
Have a wonderful crafty day!
’til next time!

Anna — YOU ARE HERE!

I *LOVE* this!!!! I have thought about using some of my scraps to do this (or herringbone patterns) but just haven’t taken the time to do it yet, but it would be a perfect project for when you want to get crafty but can’t muster any mojo! You put together great combos of stamps with each background too. My fav is the strawberry card! You know, for someone who worried she wouldn’t be able to make anything this month, you knocked it out of the park with not 1, but *8* cards! 🤩
