Hello everyone! I spent one whole morning heat foiling several backgrounds using hot foil plates from Hero Arts.
Since I have to bring out my glimmer foiling machine from Spellbinders and all it’s paraphernalia, I figured I would just foil several background designs and decide what to do with them later. I used three different foil plates: Vine, Magnolia Branches and my favorite of three, Zen Circles, all from Hero Arts.
The Zen Circles Hot Foil plate reminded me of those Zen garden scenes. So I decided to bust out the Bonsai Fancy Die and create two cards using the positive and negative of the Zen foiled backgrounds.
Here is the first card I created. I used the negative piece which I foiled on craft cardstock.
I trimmed it down to 4″ x 5.25″ and adhered it to a Kiwi hero hues cardstock. Next I added a small sentiment band with the words “Hello There”, gold heat embossed. The sentiment is from the Bold Flowers stamp set.
Then I added a silhouette of a bonsai tree cut out of kraft cardstock with a Kiwi Hero hues shadow peeking through. I adhered the panel on a side folding card base.
For the second card, I used the positive Zen background and die cut an arch using the Arches Infinity die set.
For the background behind the arch window, I used the hot foil plate to dry emboss the Zen Circles design on holographic cardstock. Then I die cut the tree from Kraft cardstock and paper pieced the leaves using Kiwi hero hues cardstock. I also die cut the tree vase and flowers out of holographic cardstock.
Then I added acetate at the back of the Arch window and adhered it to a Kraft card base after adding holographic sequins and double sided foam tape.
Next I adhered all the elements on top of the arches window including a kraft cardstock frame for the arch and a “ledge” for the bonsai tree to sit on. I added the sentiment “Happy Birthday” , white heat embossed and cut out with the coordinating die. The sentiment is from the March 2024 My monthly Hero Kit.
