Yoda Best! Squirrelz Stash Bash Blog Hop

Hello! It’s our monthly Squirrelz Stash Bash Blog hop once again! Our theme this month is Humor and our supply is Stencils. For those who are not familiar with our hop, my squirrel sisters and I hop every month and try to use our hardly-used crafty supplies.

It’s my good friend’s birthday next month and he is a huge Star Wars fan-atic. So I thought it would be a great idea to break out my Sassy Wars stamp sets from The Sassy Club. I, too, am a big Star Wars fan so when I saw the stamp set from The Sassy Club, I just had to have it! It has images of Yoda, Darth Vader & and the Death Star, all done in cute kawaii fashion. I’ve had this stamp set for years and haven’t used it yet so this is the perfect time to do so!

I chose the cute Yoda stamp which I will pair with the sentiment “Yoda Best” which is also part of the stamp set. I’m hoping this card would make my friend chuckle. I stamped it with Memento Ink and colored Yoda with my brand new Ohuhu markers.

Now, I was lacking inspiration and motivation to create so I asked my 16 year old daughter to go through my stencil stash and pick one that would be perfect for the background. She chose the Swirling Nebula stencil from Hero Arts.

I took the stencil and place it top of watercolor cardstock. Then with a dome style blending brush, I pounced it firmly all over the stencil using embossing ink. Then I heat embossed it using crisp white embossing powder.

I placed the heat embossed panel into a splatter box, basically and old shoebox and sprayed it with four colors of shimmer inks. I just went to town! After it dried, I ink blended Black Soot Distress Oxide ink on all sides of the inky panel.

All that spritzing and/stained my hands! But I had a lot of fun!

Then I took a large circle die and die cut a half circle on some gray cardstock. I splattered the piece with gold ink and white pigment ink. Then I ink blended the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. Next, I white heat embossed the sentiment before adhering it to the base of the inky nebula panel. I placed dimensional tape behind the half circle piece.

Next I fussy cut the Yoda image, placed some dimensional tape behind and then glued it on top of the half circle. I added a little bit of shadow below his feet with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink.

I hope my friend finds my card amusing! Hop on to Marie’s blog post for more fun with stencils inspiration!

Have a happy crafty day!
