Altenew November 2022 Simply Scientific Stamps/Dies/Stencils Release + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!) 

Hi everyone! The Altenew release this month is so beautiful and fun at the same time! If you are following along on the blog hop, you have just come from the Altenew blog. I have lots of inspiration for you today and the rest of the design team have a lot to share as well! So grab your favorite drink and let’s get started!

When I saw this sunflower from the release, I immediately fell in love! It has all the elements I like in a stamp design, its big and bold and makes a great statement on a card. I chose the florals in this release because I wanted to create a decorative edge to my cards.

Card # 1: Dancing Sunflowers Stamp & Stencil Bundle

For my first card, I stamped the sunflower of a top folding white cardstock card panel. I made sure to line up the image that the design touched the edges on both sides. I stamped the it with embossing ink and heat embossed it with Antique Gold embossing powder.

I stenciled the flower and leaves using the coordinating layering stencils. For the flower and berries, I used the inks from the Golden Sunset mini ink cube set – the lightest colors, Sunray and Snap Dragon for the front petals and the darker colors Marigold and Firebrick for the back petals. For the middle of the flower, I used Hazelnut, Milk Chocolate and Mocha from the Delectable Delights mini ink cube set, Hazelnut & Milk Chocolate as the base, and Mocha to darken the areas closest to the petals. For the leaves I used Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, then Evergreen for the inner parts. This is from the Green Fields set of mini ink cubes.

After ink blending the flowers and leaves, I used the coordinating die and did partial die-cutting, lining up the top plate of my die-cutting machine on the area I wanted to cut out.

Then I took another top folding panel and dry embossed it with the Modern Lines 3D embossing folder. I lightly swiped the embossed surface with embossing ink and heat set it with Antique Gold embossing powder. I then adhered that panel to the card panel with the flower to create a top folding tri-fold card.

Card #2: Botanical Illustrations Stamp & Stencil Bundle

My second card may look a little more complicated at first glance, you are probably thinking that this needs some masking. But I was able to create this card without any masking.

First, I stamped and heat embossed the flower on a side folding white cardstock panel. I used Antique Gold embossing powder and positioned the stamp a little to the right of the panel. Then I took the biggest leaf stamp fromt he set and lined it up on top of the flower, positioning it in such a way that the top and bottom of the leaf stamp touched the edges of the panel. Then I stamped it with embossing ink and sprinkled it with Antique Gold embossing powder BUT before I heat set it, I took a fine dry paintbrush and brushed away the embossing powder that was inside the flower image.

Then I took the coordinating stencil and stenciled the flower and leaves using the same colors as my first card, concentrating the darker colors in the middle of the flower and the inner edges of the leaves.

After ink blending, I gold heat embossed the sentiment “hello” fromt the stamp set. Then I fussy cut the edge of the flowers and leaves. I took another side folding cardstock panel added Gold String washi tape, trimmed off the excess part, then adhered one panel over the other to create a side folding tri-fold card.

Card #3: Rose Buds Stencils

This one was for me the easiest to do. I just had to figure out the position of the rose buds so that they touched the edges of the card. Once I had that in place, I just marked the positon with pencil and then I knew exactly where to position each stencil.

I then ink blended the rose buds and leaves using the same inks as my previous cards. Then to add some shimmer and shine, I swiped the inner parts of the leaves and flowers with the edge of the embossing ink pad, sprinkled Antique Gold embossing powder, brushed off the excess in areas I did not want, then heat set it. I then fussy cut the edge.

Then I took another top folding cardstock panel added two layers of the Golden stream washi tape on the area of the fold. I then adhered that panel one on top of the other to make it a top folding tri-fold card.

Card #4: Fancy Miss You Die

For my final card, I used the Modern Lines 3D embossing folder but this time horizontal on a cardstock panel but not before I added a strip of Golden Stream washi at the bottom half of the panel. I cut out the Miss You out of Mirror Gold cardstock, offset with Matte Gold glitter paper from the Gilded Glitter pack.

I matted the panel on Mirror Gold carstock and adhered it on a side folding card base. I then added sequins from the Antigue Gold sequin pack to finish off the card.
