Hello crafty friends! Welcome to another Squirrel Squad hop! You have just come from the wonderful Lounon. This month we are exploring something a little new for us, at least new to the hop. We will be working on a color palette with a botanical theme!

The color palette below is from this beautiful plant in my garden. This is called a Coleus. It is known for its beautifully painted leaves. I took a photo of the plant and uploaded it on coolors.com and it automatically generated several color palettes based on the photo.

Before I get into my project shares, I wanted to tell you about another challenge called the #3X1challenge. This is a challenge that our lovely fellow squirrel sister, V, came up with to incentivize herself to use each stamp set in her stash to create 3 of 5 types of cards. She was also inspired by our other fellow squirrel sister, Karen. I will link to the challenge here so you can read all about it. Basically, it’s a challenge to use a stamp set in your stash and make at least three out of five kinds of cards. The five card categories are: Birthday, Thank You, Sympathy, Hello/Thinking of You, and Congratulations! I don’t really need that many Congrats cards so I may change it up occasionally, something like a “wild card” category! (pun intended)
I have decided to try and take up the #3X1challenge and add my own little twist by starting with the stamp sets that haven’t seen ink! And I have TONS of those. I purchased this particular stamp set, Peaceful Reverie by Altenew, about two years ago. I have no idea why I purchased it, I think I liked all the inspirations from the design team and then thought, wow! I gotta have this set. It’s a beautiful set but it’s really not my style but then decided to break it out and use it for this hop and the #3X1challenge.
I stamped all the images in the stamp set several times using Altenew Inks following the color palette above. I used the Cherry Blossom mini ink cubes and for the leaves, the Tropical ink cube set. The middle of the flowers I used Buttercream and Paper Bag Ink from the Summer Afternoon mini ink cube set. I will be using mostly Altenew products for my projects.
Hello Card
For my first card inspiration, I took some Dotted washi and used it as the background. Then I die cut the frame for the cluster of flowers using the Frilly Frames die out of Jet black cardstock. The sentiment “HELLO” is from the the Mega Label sentiment stamp set stamped with Obsidian Ink.

Thank You Card
For this one, I arrange clusters of the flowers on a diagonal opposite the sentiment in the middle. The background is a piercing die called Dotted Swirls Debossing die.

Congratulations card
For my third and final card, I arranged the clusters in the middle of the card, then adhered the sentiment on top. The background is actually a paper napkin which I adhered onto a cardstock base using a glue stick. I finished off the card with some black flat sequins.

Those are my three cards from one stamp set! I’m so proud of myself – I really hope I can keep this up! Would you care to join us on the three by one challenge? If you do, please use the hashtag #3X1challenge so we can all be inspired!
I’m last on the hop but I have the full hop list linked below – or you can click on the lovely Marie to start from the beginning.
A belated Happy Valentine’s day!!
‘Til next time!

You picked an easy set for the #3×1 challenge!!! I love how different they all turned out! My fav is the one with the napkin background! That blue is just gorgeous as a backdrop to the floral arrangement. Yeah, I remember when this set (and a couple similar) hit the market and I was like, Hard no. Not my style either, but considering you were working with something outside your normal style, you rocked it!!!

Anna, these cards are stunning ❤ Using washi tape and napkin: how clever! This stamp set is beautiful and you used it not for 1 but for 3 gorgeous cards, eventhough it wasn't your style. Love the colors of your real plant and how you managed to achieve the same painted look for your images.

Aaaaah! I am just so excited you’re joining me on the 3×1 challenge! I love how you used these stamps even though they aren’t your typical style! I also like how the backgrounds with dots play off the pointillism in the flowers! Three beautiful cards! (And one set down!)

Wow, that blue napkin really is vibrant, and sets off the flowers so well. I admire that you were able to combine our challenge with V’s…I can barely eek out a card for one challenge! You are so talented, my Squirrel Sister! 😊
