Shine the Spotlight on My Monthly Hero December 2021 Kit

Hi friends! The latest Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit for December just dropped and I have three card inspirations for you! Today I am shining the spotlight on this really cool kit.

I have a very good crafty friend who lives in Paris and though I haven’t yet met her in person, I am hoping to one day! I am sure we would have a grand time! This first card is for her!

I used the City cling stamp and heat embossed it with white detail embossing powder on the black cardstock. Then I also stamped the same but this time with Intens-ified Black ink on Dove white cardstock and added clear embossing powder and heat set it.

I took a 1.75″ circle die from the Circle Nesting Infintiy die set and cut out the part with the Eiffel Tower. I added foam at the back and adhered it to the top left, matching it exactly with the black background. This created a spotlight effect. Then I added a clear heat embossed sentiment “Wishing You Weren’t so Far Away” also from the stamp set included in the kit. You can highlight any part of this card using this technique and use any of the other sentiments in the kit,

For my second card, its not really so much a spotlight card, but with the addition of the black silhouette images, it highlights it even more.

I inkblended on a piece of Dove White Cardstock using the three reactive ink cubes that came in the kit – Lemon Drop, Fruit Punch and Berry Smoothie. With a blending brush I started with Lemon Drop, then next blended Fruit Punch, then finally Berry Smoothie.

Then I placed the ink blended panel in my Misti, which still had the City cling stamp attached. I spritzed the cling stamp with water mixed with perfect pearls, then closed the door of the Mist on top of the ink blended panel. I left it there a couple of seconds before lifting it up. The inks reacted with water and left a ghost like impression. I removed the panel and replaced it with plain white cardstock and then closed the door of the Misti – transferring the left over ink on the stamp onto the panel. Then set it aside to use it on another card.

I then die cut the cover die that was in the kit with black glitter cardstock. I added two more layers of plain black cardstock also die cut with the same die for added dimension. I stamped and clear heat embossed the sentiment “Thinking of You” before adhering the glitter cardstock silhouette onto the inkblended panel.

For my third card, I used the stamped impression left over from my second card.

I took a panel of black glitter cardstock and using a 2″ circle die from the Circle Nesting Infinity die set, I cut out circles surrounding each of the main images in the cover die – the man looking out to the sky, the lady in her lounge chair and the cat. I added acetate behind the circles then added two layers of plain black cardstock cut out from the cover die to create a silhouette scene.

Then I used some scraps of the black glitter cardstock and heat embossed the sentiments “Thinking of You”, “Missing You” and “Can’t Wait to See You” with white detail embossing powder. I was pleasantly surprised how good the white embossing powder took to the textured glitter cardstock!
