Hi everyone! Today’s cards are inspired by the Japanese cuteness culture called KAWAII. It’s basically all things cute and can refer to humans, items, way of dressing, acting etc. – including adding cute faces to inanimate objects.

I do not have any Kawaii images in my stash but there are ways around that! I decided that the Hero Arts Soy Awesome stamp set was so perfect for this!! Kawaii not!

First I stamped out the dumplings (gyoza), Sushi rolls (maki), Chopsticks & Sushi plate images from the stamp set using Hero Arts Inten-sified Black Ink onto some white cardstock. Then I colored in the images with Copics.

My idea for the card was to make the chopsticks pick up one of the dumplings or sushi rolls . To add faces on the dumplings, I used a .05 micron pen. A typical Kawaii face is usually large round eyes set apart and a little mouth and usually no nose drawn in. I put different expressions on each dumpling – one with a funny expression . I did the same with the sushi rolls.
To create the background, I took a DIY stencil that I’ve had in my stash back in the day when I had minimal craft supplies. Hero Arts has one similar to the one I used. I ink blended a background where sunrays where coming from behind each vignette scene.

First I ink blended Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink, then Mustard Seed closer to the middle. I removed the stencil then ink blended using the same colors but added Spiced Marmalade in the middle.

I stamped You’re Soy Awesome on the top left then cut down the panel using the Hero Arts Rectangle Infinity Die. I adhered all the elements with liquid glue except for the middle dumpling, which I used foam tape.

I did the same with this card but instead stamped Let the Good Times Roll on the upper left hand corner. Incidentally, the little stamped rays coming out of each of the images with funny expressions is from a My Monthly Hero kit from August 2018 which is a coffee themed but had these little images to put into coffee cups.

I matted both cards on a 4.25″X5.5″ black cardstock and adhered on a white card base. I really loved how these turned out and I’m excited to try this on other images in my stash.
I hope you were inspired to create your own Kawaii images with stamps you already have in your stash!
I am entering this in the current A Blog Named Hero challenge linked here.

Have a wonderful day!
‘Til next time!
