Hi! It is time for another ATSM CAS challenge. My card making style is definitely not a CAS style and I do admire those that can easily make one without having to want to add more to it. I guess in the back of my mind, if I make something too simple, it might not seem “special” enough. But that’s simply not true!
A lot of stamp sets have those solid images in them – you know the ones that fill in outline images — or even those that are just solid that are meant to layer together. Here Are three ways you can step up the solid images of your stamps.
For this project, I am using the Summer Blooms stamp set from WPlus9. This is an old stamp set, I think it was launched sometime in 2016. I thought I would use this set as an example as I never gave it any love. I don’t think its available anymore but I will link to similar sets like this from Altenew.
Technique #1

For the card above, I stamped out the images just as they were meant to be stamped.
I stepped it up by adding hand drawn details to give it an organic and handmade feel. I used a 0.10 micron pen. You can use any pen you have in your stash. You don’t even have to use black. Experiment with different pens to achieve the look you want. What I love about this technique is that you don’t have to be an expert in drawing!
Technique #2

For this card, I used a favorite technique of mine where I use two different shades of a color. I stamp part of the solid image then use a sponge dauber to dab off a little of the ink on the edges to soften between colors.

I also have a quick video on my YouTube channel showing this technique in more detail.
Technique #3

For this card, I scribbled two colors of waterbased markers, in this case I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I spritzed it a couple of times with water before applying it on the paper.

I also have another very short YouTube video on how I used this tecnique to create very quick cards.
Here are is another photo of all the cards together, You can see the different looks it can have just varying the techniques used.

Hope you were inspired! Let me know in the comments below which one is your favorite. I can hardly wait to see your beautiful work over at the ATSM challenge!
‘Til next time!

Seems you have mastered the CAS style with this trio! I don’t think I can single out one I like best. I’ve done all these techniques sometime in the past, but now I want to try all three with a set the way you have!
