The Papercraft Business Challenge this month is Anything Goes! So it’s a perfect opportunity to showcase the Brutus Monroe Die of the Month.
This month’s die is a unique one — a Ferris Wheel! As many countries around the world are still on lockdown – we can only sit at home and dream that we are off to the Fair! It is fun to imagine we are at a county fair having the time of our lives! This is exactly what I wanted to capture in my card – a Ferris Wheel ride at night with fireworks in the background – a perfect way to end a beautiful day at the Fair.

For this project inspiration, I used the Sparkle Aqua Pigments to create a very colorful Ferris Wheel. You can buy the pigments in a complete set of rainbow colors (which I did!) or individually. I put my die on my watercolor paper and marked the centerpoint of the ferris wheel. I then squeezed some pigment on my glass mat and painted concentric circles following the colors of the rainbow.

Next, I positioned my die on the area of the concentric circles and die cut it using my big shot. This is a very detailed die so I had to use a metal shim.

To “light up” the insides of each cabin on the ferris wheel and also at the base, I used bits of my post-it tape on the back side of the die cut. The post-it tape had the perfect bright yellow that would be a wonderful bright contrast with the background.

On a stark black card base, I flicked on some silver metallic paint from the Altenew Metallic watercolor set. For the sentiment, I die-cut a circle from vellum using the Circle Foundation Dies. I had first heat embossed the “YOU’RE AWESOME” sentiment from the Super Sentimental stamp set, but it didn’t quite show up on the card. So instead of tossing it, I decided to use the Raven Ultra-fine Embossing powder and slightly off-set it. This gave the sentiment an additonal shine to match the card.
I tried my best to capture the shimmer and shine of the ferris wheel and the backdrop.

I hope my project above inspired you, and for a brief moment, took you on a ride on a Ferris Wheel!
I’ll see you over at the Papercraft Business Challenge blog. I can hardly wait to see what you create! You just might win this beautiful butterfly dinky die from X-Cut.
