October 2025 Hero Studio Release + Blog Hop

Hello! The Hero Arts Creative Team is celebrating the release of the October Hero Studio with a blog hop! If you are hopping along with us, you have just come from the lovely Channin.

This month’s Hero Studio release is retro-themed “Merry Era”. I created two cards with this release. The first card using the October kit which has this big beautiful mirror ball die!

October Hero Studio Card Kit of the Month Includes:

• Deck the Halls with Disco Balls 6×8 Stamp Set
• Deck the Halls with Disco Balls Coordinating Dies
• Have a Ball Die Set
• Gold Embossing Powder .5 oz
• 10 Sheets of Cardstock- 1 of each color, 5.5″ x 8.5″ (Poppy, Dahlia, Tutu, Blush, Alabaster, Beeswax, Tuscan, Fern, Seaside, Waterfall)
• Two Sheets of Gold Matte Paper, 5.5″ x 8.5″

I created a tri-fold card using the the big mirror ball die. I took a white side-folding card base and using the second to biggest circle die from the Nesting Infinity Circle die set, I cut only the front part of the card off-setting the circle a little towards the fold line.

Next, I die-cut the mirror ball out of gold matte paper, gold mirror paper and gold glitter paper. I took the gold matte outer frame and adhered it to the die-cut circle. Then with my picker tool, I paper pieced the mirror ball alternating different gold cardstock textures.

Next, I die-cut the large ribbon out of waterfall cardstock and ink-blended areas of the ribbon to make it look more dimensional. Then I added it to the top of the mirror ball.

To create a tri fold, I took another side folding note card and overlapped it on the inside and adhered to the back of the card.

Next, I took a 4.25″x5.5″ panel of Dahlia cardstock and ink-blended all sides with Taffy Reactive Ink. Then I gold heat embossed the sentiment “Deck the Halls with Disco Balls” on Waterfall cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating die. Then I ink-blended all sides of the sentiment with Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink. And for the finishing touch, I added die cut matte gold, mirror gold and glitter gold stars all around the sentiment. I then adhered it to the Tri-fold to create a background for the mirror ball.

For my second card, I used the October Layering Stencil of the Month “The Tree”.

I used the same color palette as my first card.

I ink-blended the tree but masked off the disco ball ornaments in each layer with washi tape. I used Taffy Reactive Inks just varying the pressure on the blending brush. But with one of the layers, I combined the Taffy Reactive ink with Fruit Punch Reactive ink to make it darker.

For the disco ball ornaments, I used different mediums for each layer. The first layer, I used gold embossing powder, for the next layer, I used gold glitter embossing powder from my stash and for the third layer, I used gold Hero Wax. And the fourth and final layer, I just ink blended using the Taffy ink.

Next, I fussy cut out the tree, added it to a 4.25″x5.5 panel of waterfall cardstock. Then added the sentiment “Have a Ball this Christmas, gold heat-embossed on Waterfall cardstock.

I hope you were inspired by the cards I created.
