August 2025 Hero Studio Release + Blog Hop

Hi everyone! The Hero Arts Creative Team is celebrating the release of the August Hero Studio with a blog hop! If you are hopping along with us, you have just come from the lovely Channin.

The August Hero Studio release is Spook-tacular this month! It’s a Victorian Halloween theme which I love. I’m not really into Halloween but this collection was so much fun to create with! The Hero Studio card kit of the month theme is Ichabod’s Study. Is this Ichabod from the Legend of Sleepy Hallow story? Hmm..

– Abraham and Katrina 6×8 Stamp Set
– Abraham and Katrina Coordinating Dies
– Stamping Guide for stamp set
– Victorian Frame Die Set
– Pear Blosson Press-One Light 2 Pack
– 10 Sheets of Cardstock- 1 of each color, 5.5″ x 8.5″ (Cinnamon, Terra Cotta,Carrot, Coral, Bellini, Tuscan, Mint, Waterfall, Blue Spruce, Raven)
– Holographic Rainbow Film, 1 sheet – 5.5″ x 8.5″
– Acetate, 1 sheet – 5.5″ x 8.5″

For the first card, I will create a “Magic Slider Card”. I used the Layering Katrina stamp image in the stamp using a different ink color for each layer. For the base layer I used Fawn Core Ink, then Caramel for the next layer, then Espresso . And for the dress, I used Tangerine for the base and Pumpkin for the folds. I did not stamp the top most layer which is the outline layer. Then I stamped a mask over her eyes using Black Intens-ified ink. I fussy cut the image out and set it aside while I worked on the clear layer which will go on top of the stamp image. I did not have Staz-on ink that could stamp over acetate so I stamped the outline image using Black Pigment ink on the inside of a sheet of laminating film. The inside of the laminating film takes pigment ink very well. Then after I stamped it, I placed the other film gently on top to sandwich the image then I laminated it using a laminating machine. It worked so well! Then I set that aside and worked on the front of my card.

I used the frame die to cut out the frame in the upper middle of a piece of black cardstock which I sprayed with Iridescent spray to give it some shimmer & shine.

Next I cut out the frame details using black glitter paper. I adhered it on top of the frame. Then I used the coordinating die of the sentiment “Happy Haunting” and cut out a window also at the front, right below the frame. Next, I adhered the clear laminated image of Katrina at the back of the frame but using tape on all sides. The reason I use tape is so that the cardstock slider does not get caught in the edges of the laminated sheet.

Then I added a piece of 4×4 cardstock at the back of the frame and stamped out the word pull. I surrounded the piece with dimensional tape and adhered it to a side folding card base.

For my second card, I used the same technique as the first card but instead of using laminating sheet, I used vellum.

First, I used the Magic Mist stencil and stenciled the background with clear embossing ink. Then I sprinkled Iridescent embossing powder and heat set it. I did the same to a panel of vellum.

Then I used the outline crystal ball die from the You are Magic August die set of the Month and die cut the outline. Next, I stamped the crystal ball on Carrot cardstock with Intens-ified Black Ink and used the crystal ball die to die cut it out. I also stamped the word you are Magic on a piece of Peridot Cardstock.

I added the vellum behind the black cardstock, then added the crystal ball on top. Then I glued the You are Magic sentiment on a side folding card base, positioning it in the middle of the opening of the crystal ball. Then I used the same method as the first card to create a sliding mechanism so that when you pulled the tab, the words will appear like magic.

Hero Arts will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Tuesday, August 5th at 11:59pm PT, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week. Leave a comment on all stops for more chances to win!

I am the last stop on the hop! Hope you were inspired by all the creativity!

Have a wonderful crafty day!

Til next time!
