Squirrelz Stash Bash

Season of Cheer! Squirrelz Stash Bash

Hello crafty friends! It’s time for our blog hop, where the Squirrel Sisters and I try to bash our stash!

If you are following along on this this hop, you have just come from the uber talented, Marie! This month, our theme is favorite holiday. And like Marie, my favorite holiday is Christmas!

In the last SSB blog hop, I made cards made from backgrounds that I had made from scraps of pattern paper. This time I decided to try to get ahead of the Christmas season and mass produce some Christmas cards.

I then decided to look deep into my pattern paper stash and pulled out a 12×12 paper pad from long time ago. A Christmas themed paper pad from Michael’s. I bought it, maybe more than a decade ago, on one of my trips to the US. Truth be told, I grabbed the pad without checking the paper and when I got back to the hotel, I was a bit disappointed to find out that it wasn’t cardstock thickness, instead it was scrapbook paper thin, as thin as regular printer paper. Oh well.. it was still cute though.

Whenever I mass produce cards, I usually refer to Sheetload of Cards by Crafty Al on YouTube. She provides free card sketches and all you have to do is subscribe to her channel. And if you do decide to download her free card sketches, please make sure you don’t pass it around but instead tell more people about it so they can subscribe to her channel. That is a great way to support her! Her channel is linked here.

I chose the January 2022 card sketch and all in all I made 2 sets of eight cards in a box. I still have enough that I cut out to make 2 more sets of eight. I hardly made a dent on the paper pad but at least I got ahead on my Christmas cards!

All of the cards I made came from the paper pad, including the design elements. I simply fussy cut them out,  added some dimension to them. The sentiments are from old holiday stamp sets from Concord & 9th.

And I made boxes for each set and decorated the top with the same pattern paper and design elements from the paper pad.

I hope you were inspired to bash your stash too and get ahead of the holiday season!

Next up on the hop is the lovely Lounon!

Have a wonderful crafty day!

’til next time!

  1. Wowzers Anna! 16 cards!!! And I love them ALL! That paper is adorable and I love that you were able to pull elements from it so you didn’t even need to die cut anything! And this makes them very “mail friendly” too! Card sketches are a great way to bust out a bunch of cards. I like Crafty Al’s sketches and also the no waste sketches from Jess Crafts. I was just thinking that I should do a “kill a paper pad” project to make Christmas cards this year because I have a ton of 6×6 Christmas pads I know I won’t ever use up any other way. The ornament card is my fav πŸ˜‰ and I happen to know a certain sassy squirrel that would love to see that gingerbread man show up in her mailbox πŸ˜…. LOL

  2. OH DANG! This was definitely a great idea for busting out cards, and 16 of them!? WOWZERS!! I have this paper pad too, and I love using papers from it now and again. And Karen is right…that gingerbread card is my favorite! πŸ™‚

  3. I love them all! And I love that you created boxes for each one! That would make a great gift! I’d wondered where the embellishments were from. Cutting them from the same paper was perfect! Adorable!!!
