Hero Arts Peacocks: Coloring with Alcohol Markers and Colored Pencils

Hello! I am sharing a card I created using alcohol markers and colored pencils to color these beautiful die cut peacocks.

For the first card, I die cut the Peacock cover plate out of Dove White cardstock. Then using a pair of scissors, I cut out just the peacock. I make sure to tape the back of the peacock with washi tape so the pieces of the tail don’t fall off.

I will be using Ohuhu alcohol markers in blues and greens. And for the details, I will be using Prismacolor colored pencils in  Dark Green & Indigo Blue.

First, I filled in the body of the peacock with the lightest blue color, Robin’s Egg Blue (B050). Then I colored the edges of the  body of the peacock using the darkest blue marker, Cobalt Blue (PB3), followed by the next darkest color, Brilliant Blue (PB2), then Tahitian Blue (B070). Then I finished it off by using the Robin’s Egg Blue to blend all the blues together.

For the tail of the peacock, I used a variety of greens. The base color, the lightest green, Sugarcane (GY7), then I used Absinthe (GY5) and used flicking marks to mimic the feathers on the tail. Then I used Robin’s Egg Blue for the center of each peacock feather, finished it with Cobalt Blue circles for the middle.

I used Prismacolor pencils in Indigo Blue (PC901) & Dark Green (PC908) to add more details.

For the background, I used the same peacock cover plate and die cut it using Hero Hues Pine Cardstock and Hero Hues Kiwi and adhered it offset on a piece of Hero Hues Nautical cardstock panel.

I decided to add some irridescent glitter by “painting” on the peacock using Sparkle Clear Lacquer. I squeezed some of the irridescent lacquer onto a piece of plastic and I used a stiff flat brush to add the lacquer onto the head, body and tail of the peacock. Then i squeezed some dots on each circle on the tail and at the top of the head.

The sentiment “You’re special to me” is from the Valentine’s wreath stamp set, heat embossed with lime green embossing powder on Pine cardstock and finished it off with Irridescent baubles.

I loved coloring the peacock, I decided to color in another one, this time I used the Peacock Fancy Die. I just changes up the background colors using Nautical & Peacock, respectively on a Pine cardstock panel. The die that I used to cut the background was the Heart Flourishes cover plate die.

The sentiment “Sending you Love” is from the Valentines Wreath stamp set, heat embossed with Blue embossing powder on Nautical Cardstock.

I added irridescent baubles as will for that extra shine!
