Hello! It’s once again time for the monthly A Blog Named Hero Challenge. Before I get into my card inspiration for this challenge, I just wanted to let you know that the A Blog Named Hero blog is under maintenance. The challenge gallery has now moved to Instagram. This month’s challenge is creating a background using any Hero Arts mediums you may have in your stash, liquid watercolors, reactive inks, or you can use stamps to create a background.
This is one of my favorite techniques to create a background – to take all the stamps in a stamp set and stamp them all at once. For this card, I used the “Sea You Soon” stamp set.
I arranged all the stamps from the stamp set (except for the sentiments) on a piece of 4.25″X5.5″ kraft cardstock. I used a stamp positioner for this as I wanted to make sure I got a good impression with the embossing ink. I stamped the images and heat embossed them using HA embossing powder.
I splattered the background with some ink from the bottle of Pure White ink spray. This gave it a sandy looking texture. I cut down the embossed panel to 4″X5.25″. To add additional interest, I used the sand embossing powder at the edges of the panel. I mixed a liitle of white embossing powder with the sand embossing powder because I wanted it to match the panel.
I popped up the whole panel with several layers of scrap cardstock and adhered it to a card panel. I white heat embossed the sentiment “I Miss You” on a scrap of piece of pitch black cardstock. I added some gold metallic embroidery floss before adhering the sentiment onto the panel.
