Rainbow Happy! A Blog Named Hero Challenge

Hi! We have a really fun challenge for you this month over at the A Blog Named Hero and it is using repetition in the design of your project. You can repeat elements, stamping in numerous times as a background or as a main focal point. For my card inspiration, I am repeating die-cut words as the main design of my card.

I recently purchased the Birthday message cover die and used it on an ink-blended rainbow background. Then this gave me an idea to create another card with just using the word “happy”.

But I didn’t want to die cut the whole panel, so I ink blended 2″ strips on some scrap cardstock with Hero Arts dye inks. I ink-blended one strip with Raspberry Jam and Creamsicle. Another strip with Lemon Drop, Lime Green and the third strip with Splash and Grape Slush. Then I splattered Irridesent liquid watercolor to give it some texture and shine.

I placed each strip on the upper part of the cover die and die cut only the words”HAPPY HAPPY”. Then I placed foam squares at the back of each letter to give it more dimension.

To line them up straight, I used the grid of my glass mat and some low tack washi tape.

Once I was happy with how everything was spaced, I removed the washi strip from the glass mat just being extra careful that the letters don’t fall out. I added liquid glue at the back of each strip and then placed them on a 4.25″X 5.5″ Dove white cardstock panel.

I gave it about 30 seconds to dry before gently removing the washi tape. Then I added the word “BIRTHDAY” which came from the Happy Thanks Stamp & Cut XL set – white heat embossed on Pitch black cardstock.

I just love how this card turned out! It makes me so happy! I hope you were inspired to try this with alpha dies you may have in your stash. To join our challenge, you must use Hero Arts products, so you can just add stamped HA elements in case you do not have any alpha dies from Hero Arts.

I am entering this in the Hero Arts Stay Crafty challenge themed “FOR THE GUYS”. This card will be going to my good friend’s son who will be turning five next month. He will definitely love this rainbow card as he is absolutely fascinated with real rainbows!

I’ll see you over at the A blog Named Hero Challenge gallery!

‘Til next time!
