Hero Arts, Papercraft Business Challenge

You Mean the World to Me & The Papercraft Business Challenge #25

Hi! After a month long break from the challenge, we are back to inspire you once again with this month’s Papercraft Business Challenge “Anything Goes”.. Yay!

I’ve been so excited for the past year to be over! And doubley excited for the coming year.

For this month’s challenge inspiration, I am using the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero December 2019 Kit “One Earth, One World” theme. I love the uniqueness of this kit as I don’t really see many “environment” themed stamp sets. So for this month, I am doing a simple, easy to do gatefold card design.

First, I stamped the “Mother Earth” image from the kit with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Then, I watercolored her using my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. I did the same for the earth image. Instead of using regular water to paint with my zigs, I used shimmer water (water mixed with Perfect Pearls powder). If you do not have perfect pearls, you can use a shimmer pen to add shimmer to your project.

To prep my card base, I cut an 8.5″ X 5.5″ cardstock. I put my cardstock lenghtwise on a scoreboard and scored at 2 1/3″, then turned my cardstock around to the other side and used the same measurements to score. I folded along the scored lines to create a gatefold card.

On a separate panel of watercolor cardstock, I created a galaxy sky. If you would like a simple tutorial of creating a galaxy, you can check this link to another blog post here.

After the galaxy panel dried, I cut it down to 5.25″x 4″. Then I cut it in half lengthwise down the middle. I adhered the galaxy panel onto the top of the gatefold card. Then I took one of the sentiments from the stamp set “You mean the World to me” and white heat embossed on the top left hand corner.

Then I took the Mother Earth image and placed her on the right side of the panel, positioning her in such a way that her outstretched hand and a part of her dress with the deer extended to the left panel. I only placed adhesive on the part that was on top of the right panel. Then after I positioned the “earth” on the left panel making it look like she was holding the earth in her hands. When you open the card, the earth “separated” from her hand.

Inside the card, I stamped the sentiment “Wishing you an Abundance of Happiness” from the same stamp set.

Here is another close up photo of my card.

I hope the above project inspired you to give this a try. This month’s prize is an adorable Jingle Jangle Tilda stamp from Magnolia Rubber Stamps.

If you enjoy joining challenges, Papercraft Business has created a special planner to help you keep track of your challenges and to help you not miss out on important dates. You can check out the planner here.
