Eggstravagant Egg by Brutus Monroe: An ATSM Holiday Challenge

The Easter Holiday is fast approaching and it will be like no other. We are living in unusual times and it is indeed a time for introspection and reflection. Since we probably won’t be able to be with friends and some family in a physical sense, we can still celebrate Easter, virtually and in our hearts. It is time to put some real meaning to the holiday, free from all it’s material trappings. Its is time more than ever to give of ourselves to others – by supporting those that help us everyday, even if we don’t know their names or see their faces.

I created this Easter card as an inspiration for the ATSM Holiday Challenge.

I created this card using the beautiful Extravangant Egg die from Brutus Monroe. This is a an intricate die that does not cut out. I die-cut it three times, using plain white cardstock and cut it out following the dotted outline. Then I glued and layered them one on top of each other. For the top most layer, I die-cut it out of Fallen Snow Glitterstock, then layered it as the final layer on top. If you would like to see what else I created with this Extravagant Egg die, click on this link here.

Then, I chose three different pastel cardstock from my stash: Mint Green, Baby Pink, Light Yellow cut it up and placed it at the back of the egg to create a multi-colored backdrop for the intricate details on the egg.

For the background, I used Glitter Glaze and the new April Stencil of the Month. I thought this was a perfect backdrop for the egg. I love this Fallen Snow Glitter Glaze – its so beautiful when dried – it looks like ice crystals.

After the panel dried. I cut it down to 4″ X 5.25″ and adhered it to a 4.25″X 5.5″ white card base. I then glued the egg on top of the glazed panel. Then I stamped Happy Easter sentiment from the Concord & 9th Fine Line Florals stamp set with Altenew Charcoal Suit Crisp Dye Ink. I used the Ranger Holographic embossing powder for the sentiment to give it a nice shimmer to match the card.

Here are more photos of my card.

I really hope and pray that you and your family and friends are doing well. See you at the ATSM challenge – I can hardly wait to see your projects! Stay safe!

‘Til next time!
