Hi! I am sending off my daughter to university in Spain. I will be away from my craft room for a month but I did take a few supplies with me – the essentials to be able to create a few cards for design team projects. I did take my watercolor set from Altenew because I wanted to start getting back into watercoloring and this would be the time to do it. I am far from home and have some time for myself.

I decided to start by watercoloring on die cuts as a way to practice. I used several die sets from Paper Rose Studio to create the scene. The Little Bird Builder Die Set I have had in my stash for awhile now and thought this would be perfect for a card.
First I die cut all the elements then I watercolored them but I kept it very simple. With a No. 4 brush, I wet the surface of the die cut, then dropped in the color. I took my time building up layers of colors allowing the colors to bleed to create a soft effect on the bird and the foliage as well as the flower.

Then I framed it with the scalloped oval frame also from Paper Rose Studio. Then I paired it with the sentiment “Wishing lots of love & hugs” from the Wishing & Sending Sentiment stamp and die set.
I really enjoyed the process, so much so that I will continue to stretch myself to try to get better at it.
Thank you so much for dropping by my blog. Watch out for more watercolored projects coming up!
Til next time!
❤️
Anna
