May 2025 Hero Studio Release + Blog Hop

Hello! The Hero Arts Creative team and friends are hopping today, join us for a chance to win a Hero Arts gift card!

I’m so excited to share two cards I created with the latest release from Hero Arts called Flower Shoppe, specifically the May card kit and the Die Set of the month! But first let’s take a quick look at the card kit for the month of May.

This month’s card kit is called “May Flowers”.

Contents of the kit:

– Vintage Blooms 6×8 Clear Stamp Set
– Vintage Blooms Die Set
– Flower Delivery Truck Die Set
– BoHo Bouquet Layering Stencils
– BoHo Bouquet Stencil Frame Cut
– 18 Sheets of Cardstock (2 of each color), 5.5″ x 8.5″ (Rainforest, Blue Spruce, Waterfall, Seaside, Cascade, Mulberry, Dahlia, Carrot, Beeswax)

For both my cards, I decided to create a gift card holder hidden in the design.

For my first card, I used the Layering Stencils included in the Card kit of the month. I inkblended a variety of colors for each stencil and used washi tape to cover the areas of the stencil as I move from one color to another. Then I used the coordinating frame cut to die cut the Floral arrangement.

Next, I stamped the vase and the Happy birthday sentiment with Intens-ified Black Ink on a light gray cardstock and die-cut it. For the background, I used the Cling Stamp of the Month called Floral Tiles and stamped it on a dark gray cardstock with embossing & watermark ink for a tone on tone look.

To create a pocket for the gift card, I cut a slit with a craft knife about 2.5″ up from the bottom of the cardstock. The slit is about 2.5″ wide, just slightly larger than the width of the vase.

Next, I took a piece of light gray cardstock measuring 6 3/4″ x 2 3/8″  and, on the 6 3/4″ side, I scored it at 1″ & 2 3/8″, then folded it along the scored lines. On the 1″ fold, I added a thin bead of glue to either side to create a pocket for the gift card. Then I inserted it into the slot and then adhered the die-cut vase on top making sure I did not add glue to the area where the slit was.

Then I added glue to the top flap of the gift card holder and adhered the die-cut floral bouquet on top.

I flipped the card over and added foam tape to the bottom, sides and the top. The bottom foam tape serves as a “stopper” for the gift card holder.

I adhered the panel to a side folding card base. I also added a small tab at the top of the bouquet with the words “Pull Here”.

For the  second card, I used the Die Set of the Month called “Village Florist”.

I start by die-cutting all the elements I need to put the Village Florist Shop together. I use a variety of colors of cardstock from my scraps. Then I assemble the base of the shop including the signboard on top using the picture on the packaging as a guide.

For the background, I stamped a panel of cream cardstock with the Cling Stamp of the Month using the Sand core ink cube. Then I cut a slit about 4″ from the bottom around the same width as the flower shop.

Next, I cut the top off the flower shop using my paper trimmer.

I adhered the bottom half of the shop below the slit and the sign band of the flower shop above the slit.

Then I took a piece of cream cardstock measuring 5 1/2″ x 2 3/8″ and scored it at 3/4″ & 4 3/8″. I folded the score lines and adhere the sides on the bigger fold to create a pocket for the gift card. Then I adhered the flower shop awning to the 3/4″ top flap, trimming off the corners so they won’t stick out of the sides of the awning.

Next, I added a sentiment “Happy Birthday with Intens-ified Black Ink. The sentiment is from the Thanks a Bunch stamp set which comes free with purchase of the Whole Studio of the Month.

I added foam tape at the back and adhere it to a side folding card base. Then I added all the die-cut details like the door, window, flowers etc. to complete the card.
