All that Glitters is not Gold! Hero Arts October 2023 release

Hi everyone! I’m back with another Christmas card inspiration. Do you have a box full of unfinished projects? I do and I am slowly working my way through the all the UFO’s in that box.

I pulled out a few glittery or shiny backgrounds from my bin and will start using them for holiday cards. Here are some examples of what I have in my bin or box of unfinished objects or BUFO!

For today’s card, I chose to use a failed attempt at dry embossing with distress oxides. In an attempt to save it, I used a falling snow stencil with some glitter paste. I think it made it look better but I ended up not using it and into the BUFO it went!

When I received this beautiful ornament dies from Hero Arts, I decided that this would be perfect to make Christmas cards with!

I also die cut ornaments from silver glitter paper and then went to town paper-piecing them! This was a lot of fun to do and surprisingly didn’t take too long to make specially when all the pieces were all ready to go!

For the first card, the ornaments are mostly glitter paper with the background from the BUFO.

I used Hero Arts Glitter Paste to stencil the background using the Swirling Stars Stencil on a piece of Hero Hues Cardstock color Name Bermuda. Then added a sentiment “warm wishes” heat embossed in Silver Sparkle on the same blue cardstock.

For the second card, I used all discarded pieces from the glitter ornament and paper pieced it onto the ornament die cut from the paper from the BUFO.

I used the same stencil for the background and used glitter paste but this time on a white piece of cardstock. The sentiment was also heat embossed using silver sparkle embossing powder.

As a finishing touch, I placed flat back silver baubles on each ornament for that extra little detail.

Hope you were inspired to break out your BUFO and make finished projects out of them!

Have a wonderful crafty day!

’til next time!

❤️

Anna
