Hi everyone! If you have been following me for awhile now, you know that I hardly ever do mixed media on my card. There are reasons for this, but it’s mostly because I don’t think I am very good at it. I know I am being a little hard on myself, so I decided that instead of shying away from mixed media projects, I will start embracing it!
This card I created is inspired by a live video on the newly launched Hero Arts FB group “Mixed Media with Hero Arts” where cling stamps were used to make an impression on wet embossing paste.

First, I took some Hero Paste and spread it over a piece of thick watercolor paper. I used a small palette knife to do this. Then, while the paste was still wet. I pressed the Mountains & Trees cling stamp on parts of the paste to leave impressions of the trees. I made sure to clean my stamp right away to make sure the paste does not dry on the stamp.
After the panel was dry, I sprayed it with water, then painted it with watercolors. Just dropping the colors into the wet surface and allowing the watercolors to bleed into each other. I just made sure to avoid contrasting colors, in this case, I used different shades of green and blue-greens. Then I set it aside to dry.

While it was drying, I took some Hero Arts Caramel & Cup o’ Joe core inks and swiped them on a piece of Dove white cardstock. Then I stamped the image of a mama bear and her cub from the Bear Hugs stamp & cut stamp set with Intens-ified black ink and used the coordinating die to cut it out.
In order to “ground” the bear family, I tore some washi tape and added them to the panel.

I also used the Trail Map Bold Print cling stamp and selectively stamped the images all over the panel. Then I added the mama bear and her cub with dimensional foam tape. Then sentiment is from the same stamp set, stamped with Intens-ified ink on a green and blue ink swiped background – cut out by hand and added onto the panel.
And to finish off , I ink blended Cup o’Joe ink all around the edges of the panel before adhering it onto a card base.

I have this to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the process of mixed media! There was a brief moment in the process where I thought, that it could come out so horribly wrong but I trusted the process and in the end, I think it came out great!
How about you? Are you afraid of mixed media or are you the type that enjoys the unpredictability of it all?
Thank you so much for dropping by my blog.
Have a wonderful crafty day!
’til next time!
