Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Daffodil & Glitter Cardstock Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

I have two card inspirations for you today. They are both quite similar but they each have their own unique qualities. I used the Gilded & Dazzling Diamond glitter cardstock from the release in both of my projects.

For the main design element for my card, I used the Rose Flurries 3D die set. There are a lot of dies in this set and at first it may seem so daunting but I have a few tips and tricks on how to organize and die-cut them in the most efficient way that has worked for me! This applies to the Craft-a-Flower sets as well.

Tip #1: Storage

When I first receive a layering die or Craft-a-Flower set, specially the ones with lots of small dies, I organize them on a piece of magentic sheet according to the guide and how each layer of the elements go together.

Tip #2: Die cut and Assemble

Then the next thing I do, I die cut them with my scrap cardstock and using the guide that came with the set to I assemble them. I like to do this so I familiarize myself with all the layers and then I know what color combinations I can use based on how everything is layered together. Then I adhere them to a sheet of copy paper and make notes. Then I place this guide inside the stamp pocket along with the dies.

Tip #3: Organize

When I am ready to use the die set on a project, I take out the sample sheet and then I pull out papers I think would work well together. In this case, I used a pearlized gold paper for the base of all the flowers, then for the second layer, a gold mirror cardstock and the third layer, the Brushed Gold from Gilded Glitter cardstock set. The final and last layer, I used a pearlized cream cardstock.

Then I die cut them all at once and then organize them by floral element in a plastic tray (this one below was a recycled from my kid’s snack box).

Once I finish die-cutting all the different layer, all I needed to do is adhere them all together. This is my most favorite part of the process! Then after all the layers are adhered, I put them back in the tray and keep them there until I begin assembling them on a card.

Before I assembled the cluster of flowers on the card, I first used the same gold cardstock and dry embossed it using the Garden Harmony embossing folder.

Then I matted the embossed background onto gold mirror cardstock, then adhered it to a Ivory card base.

I then started to play around with the cluster of flowers, I die cut some leaves from the die-set to “anchor” the flowers down. I also used dimensional tape at the back of each flower to pop it up, and in some cases, doubling it to create more dimension.

My second card, is a wedding card using the Dazzling Diamond glitter cardstock. The glitter cardstock size is 3″X6″, not big enough for a cover die, but I have a simple solution, simply combine two pieces of the Dazzling Diamond glitter stock and tape them together at the back using washi tape. I am using the Moroccan Lattice cover die for this card. This glitter cardstock cuts like a dream! The glitter is a little chunkier than other glitter cardstocks out there so it catches the light really well! It’s chunky but does not shed.

Then I cut another piece of the cover die using white cardstock and adhered the glitter one on top. This not only helped in keeping it together but also created some dimension on the card.

I die-cut and assembled all the flowers and leaves the same way I did the first card just varying the layout a little bit to accomodate the placement of the sentiment.

Then added a silver heat embossed sentiment “congratulations” which came from the Wallpaper Art stamp set.
