Queen Anemone & Slim Deco Die Set

I paired this gorgeous layering stamp with the new die, Slim Deco die. I stamped out the images using the Arctic Mountain and Winter Lake and the base color is Icy Water, all from the Northern Shore ink cube set. The leaves were stamped with Mangrove Root for the outline and Sea Forest from the Nature’s Wonders Ink cube set.

I die cut the smallest element from Slim Deco die from white cardstock twice and adhered them together. Then I swiped the Enchanted Gold pigment ink over it. I also dry embossed a navy cardstock panel using the Organic Linen embossing folder, also from this release and swiped it as well using the Enchanted Gold Pigment Ink.

I arranged the flowers by interlocking them with the Slim Deco die cut. I added some gold baubles and adhered it on a cardbase to match.

Modern Greetings

The Modern Greetings stamp set has two extra large stamps that practically fill up a card front. I made two cards with two very different looks so you get to see how versatile this stamp set is.

For the card below, I wanted a more masculine feel. The technique I used is called stamp kissing. It’s super easy and perfect technique for a large stamp like this. I placed the stamp on my Misti positioning it in the middle of my cardstock. I made sure I adhered my cardstock on the foam pad of my Misti. Then I stamped it with Hazelnut ink making sure to get good coverage. I then removed the foam pad of my Misti (with the stamped cardstock still attached) and placed a background stamp in its place. The background stamp I used for this was Shine Like a Diamond.

I inked up the background stamp generously with Milk Chocolate Ink from the Delectable Delights set. Then I closed the door on of the Misti and the two stamps “kissed” each other, transfering the inked design from the background stamp onto the Happy Birthday stamp. I removed the background stamp from the Misti, replaced it with the foam pad with the cardstock still attached in the same position, closed the door and voila! The inked design transferred back to the cardstock. I used the coordinating embossing folder to emboss the Happy Birthday sentiment. I then cut it down using a circle die and adhered it to a Chocolate Brown card base dry embossed using the Organic Linen Embossing folder. I finished it off with some brown sequins from my stash.

Here is a video I made showing this technique:

My second card using the Modern Greetings stamp set couldn’t be more different! I used a combination of different inks to create a rainbow effect. I stamped each color in sections dabbing the edges of each application to create a blended look.

For the background of the shaker, I used the Way Too Sweet stamp set also stamped in rainbow colors for a more playful feel. I used clear baubles for the shaker bits so as not to distract it from the beautiful rainbow background.

Here are some additional inspirations from the release.

Fresh Cut Roses

The Fresh Cut Roses stamp set is a watercolorist dream! I’m not an expert in watercolor so my inspiration is a super simple watercolor wedding card! It’s quite easy to do – anyone with watercolors and a brush can do it!

I gold heat embossed one of the beautiful rose image from the stamp on opposite corners of a slimline card measuring 3.5″X 8.5″ on watercolor cardstock. To color in the rose image, I scribbled (yes! just scribbled!) Warm Sunshine, Autumn Blaze and Rubellite watercolor brush markers. And scribbled the leaves with Limeade on the outer part and Moss for the inner part. The background was scribbled with Dusk and Sea Breeze. Then I took a spray bottle and sprayed the panel generously with water. I dabbed off the excess water from the edges and used my paintbrush to move the pigment around. The embossed areas kept the pigments within the image and if any managed to seep into another area, I dabbed it with a paper towel.

I enhanced the inner part of the image with more concentrated pigments and diluted black watercolor using a paintbrush then set it aside to dry. After the panel dried, I splattered some gold paint from the Metallic Watercolor Pan set. Gold heat embossed the sentiment and the sides of the panel with Antique Gold embossing powder.

Our Friendship Blooms

The card I created for this stamp set features a beautiful bouquet with a lily highlighted as the main focal point. First I stamped out the image on white cardstock with Obsidian ink using the Misti. I didn’t remove stamp from my Misti and the reason I will explain below. I used the coordinating simple coloring stencil to color in the flowers and leaves. I used a mini blending tool to create a soft effect on the image. Then for the extra detail on the flower, I used the detail stamps and stamped them with my acrylic blocks. After I finished coloring in the image, I placed it back in my Misti, stamped it with Embossing Ink and embossed it using the Antique Gold Embossing powder. I used the coordinating die to cut out the image.

For the backdrop of the flower bouquet, I adhered two strips of the Gold Stream Washi side by side on 1/3rd of the cardstock. Then I dry embossed another piece of cardstock using the Organic Linen Embossing folder, swiped the surface area with Embossing Ink and embossed it with the same Antique Gold Embossing powder. I cut off 1/3rd of the cardstock, adhered it to the cardbase. Then I glued my image onto the paper. I finished off the card with some gold embroidery floss under the gold heat embossed “Thankful for You” sentiment from the Best Sentiments stamp set.

  7. When I saw the blue and gold card peeking out from behind the header for this post I could hardly wait to see the whole thing. Wow! I love everything about it, from the colors you chose to the textures and the layout. Your kissing stamps take on the Modern Greeting is so different from the others on the hop it takes my mind off in new directions. The shaker card is so playful and fun. Your watercolored roses are romantic and beautiful. You described your technique so well I hope to try it. You kind of brought your journey full circle by finishing with the Friendship Blooms bouquet with gilded organic linen again. They are all so full of appealing ideas I can’t wait to try. Thank you!

  12. Brilliant work. Your artistic design on the first card is exquisite. The blue background with swipe of gold really looks like fabric. Also, that watercolor card- Bellissimo! You are too humble. Your watercoloring is not something anyone could do. At least not me. But I am going to try it again. Thanks for so much inspiration. Altenew is lucky to have you on their team.
