Christmas in July! Stamping with Brutus Monroe Metallic Pigments

It’s Christmas in July over at Brutus Monroe! I am using the wonderful Metallic Aqua Pigments for my card inspiration. I also use the new Galaxy Powders which are perfect for a shimmering backdrop.

These shimmering paints and powders show up much better on dark cardstock so for my cards, I will be using Navy and black cardstock.

For my first card, I stamped the beautiful Plaid Tidings 4×4 stamp set from Brutus Monroe onto dark Navy cardstock using the sticky Embossing Ink. I spinkled the Blast Off Blue Galaxy Powder onto the panel and used a brush to spread the powder around. Because the ink is sticky, the shimmering powder adhered easily to the stamped design. I suggest to use your fingers to further “burnish” the powder into the sticky ink.

After laying down the powder, I took a soft microber cloth and lightly dusted off the excess powder.

I then took the baubles from the Plaid Tidings-Falliday stamp set and arranged them onto the stamped cardstock, closed the Misti door to pick up the stamps. Then I took the Metallic Aqua Pigment in Sterling and dropped the pigment directly onto the stamp. Don’t forget to shake the bottle before opening.

Then I took a dry brush and began to spread the pigment all over the stamp.

Once I was satisfied with the saturation of the ink on the stamp, I closed the door of my Misti onto the cardstock. I took care NOT to press the door down because doing so will squish all the pigment out on the sides of the image. I also did not open the door right away, I let it sit there for about 15 seconds to allow the pigment to absorb into the paper. You will need to test the absorbancy of your paper as each paper type differs.

Then to add some extra interest, I flicked some of the Sterling Pigment onto the stamped image.

I took the “Seasons Greetings” sentiment from the Falliday stamp set and heat embossed it onto the image using Sterling Embossing Powder. I just love how all of Brutus Monroe’s Metallics all coordinate together!

Then I cut the image using a circle die and mounted it onto a silver mirror cardstock cut to a slightly bigger circle. I mounted it onto a circle card base.

Here is the finished card.

I also made another one, this time using Galaxy Gold Powder for the background. Gilded Metallic Aqua Pigment for the Baubles and the splatters. And heat embossed the image using Gilded Embossing Powder.

Hope you were inspired to give this a try!

‘Til next time!
