Brutus Monroe, Papercraft Business Challenge

Mer-velous Mer-friends! Glitter Glaze Bubbles for Underwater Scenes

It’s time for the Papercraft Challenge and the theme for this month is Water/Ocean. The Brutus Monroe June Inspiration Box “Magical Mermaids” was the perfect fit for this theme!! Here is the card I created as a Design Team member using an add on stamp set called Merfriends.

To create this card, I took a 9″ X 12″ sheet of Cansons Watercolor paper and cut it vertically in half. I taped my panel at the top and bottom onto my glass mat. I prepped the card by swiping some clean water over from top to bottom using a wide watercolor brush. I squeezed some Aqua Sparkle Pigment onto my glass mat and picked up the color with my damp brush and swiped the color across the panel – then I also flicked some pigment onto the paper to create some blue bubble effects.

After it dried, I took the Random Dots Stencil and taped in onto one half of the panel. I used my rubber palette knife to spread the Fallen Snow Glitter Glaze onto the stencil taking care not to go outside of the stencil on the other side.

Then I set it aside to dry for about 10 minutes, and cleaned off my stencil. Then I did the same thing but on the other half of the panel.

I am a HUGE fan of the Fallen Snow Glitter Glaze because it dries clear, leaving behind all the glittery goodness! I also tint the glaze with Aqua Pigments, and when its all dried, it leaves behind whatever color you tinted it with but with all the glitter!

I stamped out the two merboys and the Waving Hello sentiment from the Merfriends stamp set and colored them with copics.

I stamped the Coral Reef background stamp onto watercolor paper, then watercolored them using the Sparkle Aqua Pigments and then fussy cut the areas I needed for the bottom of my card.

I adhered the background onto a 3.5″X 8″ slim line card base. Then I used foam dots and adhered all the elements onto the card.

I’ll see you over at the Papercraft Business Challenge blog. I can hardly wait to see what you create! You just might win this versatile Hello Sunshine stamp from Jillibean Soup.

If you enjoy joining challenges, Papercraft Business has created a special planner to help you keep track of your challenges and to help you not miss out on important dates. You can check out the planner here.

See you over at the Papercraft Business Challenge!

‘Til next time!

  1. What an awesome card! All that fussy cutting! And thank you for sharing how you made the bubbles! I’ve never tried that product before!
