Altenew March Challenge

It’s my birthday month and thought I would challenge myself so decided to join the Altenew Inspiration Challenge for the second time.  I must admit, the first time I joined, I didn’t really know what I was doing.. I just submitted a bunch of cards and rolled with it!

This time, I’m planning ahead!

I roughly sketched out four different ideas and colored them loosely using the “inspiration” image from the Altenew blog.

I just bought some embossing paste and thought I would give it a try.  I watched a couple of “how-to-videos” and jumped right in.  Gosh, they make it look so easy! Mine came out looking like a hot mess because I didn’t mix enough embossing paste with the ALTENEW Caramel Toffee ink but decided to use it anyway.

For this card, I used the ALTENEW STRIPED FLOWERS set.  I stamped it on watercolor paper using Memento tuxedo black ink. Then watercolored the flowers using my newly acquired ALTENEW mini crisp inks, Persian Blue, Caribbean Sky for the main flower and TH Distress ink Abandoned Coral for the smaller flowers. I fussy cut them and laid them out.

Then when I was happy with the layout, I secured them with Ranger Multi Medium adhesive and foam adhesive. Then embellished the flowers and leaves with Wink of Stella Clear shimmer pen. I added Nuvo drops to the middle of the flowers to create some more dimension.  I mounted it on a 4.25″X 5.5″ top folding Nina Solar White Card stock.

The sentiment “Sending Love & Hugs” came from the ALTENEW Adore You stamp set, heat embossed using ALTENEW Pure White embossing powder.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed I am chosen as one of the winners of this challenge. I have my eye on many a stamp and die sets from ALTENEW!
